My Dog Is My Home’s Open House NYC, co-hosted by Urban Resource Institute, will be held on Friday, November 15 from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. Join us to learn about how Urban Resource Institute's pet policy and practices are operationalized. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour a pet-inclusive family homeless shelter, learn about the evolution of their policies and procedures, hear from an Urban Resource Institute resident, and meet like-minded advocates.

My Dog Is My Home’s first Open House San Diego, co-hosted by Father Joe’s Villages, will be held on Thursday, October 17 from 1 PM to 4:30 PM. Join us to learn about how Father Joe’s Villages’ pet policy and practices are operationalized. 10-Year Anniversary Celebration - Cincinnati
My Dog Is My Home and Found House’s Pet Support Program are partnering to mark a significant milestone with our joint 10-Year Anniversary Celebration. Join us for an afternoon of storytelling as we breathe new life into a selection of pieces from My Dog Is My Home’s original exhibit collection and showcase new family portraits documenting the power of the human-animal bond made in collaboration between My Dog Is My Home and Found House, with photography by Bright Eyes Photos DC.

My Dog Is My Home’s next Open House Cincinnati, co-hosted by Found House, will be held on Thursday, August 8 from 1 PM to 4:30 PM. Join us to see how Found House’s Pet Support Program has evolved and grown over ten years of operation. Open House LA
Join us for an in-person Open House at LA Family Housing’s pet-inclusive interim housing facility on Thursday, February 15 from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. With the goal of building a regional network of providers that can support each other through the various phases of co-sheltering people and animals together, attendees of this Open House will have the opportunity to tour the facility, hear about pet policies and procedures, and listen to the stories of people with lived experience of homelessness with a companion animals.
Learn About the PUPP Act
Join the Unitarian Universalist Animal Ministry, Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice, and Reverend Daniel Lawlor from Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Hudson Valley for a presentation and Q&A with guest speakers of the national nonprofit My Dog Is My Home about the intersecting issues of homelessness and animal welfare. Hear about how people who have already survived the trauma of losing their homes must also then decide between accessing services and giving up their beloved companion animal or forgoing services to stay with their furry family members.
10-Year Anniversary Celebration (NYC Kickoff)
My Dog Is My Home is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its founding, featuring its beginning as an exhibition that drew upon the personal stories of human-animal families experiencing homelessness. This multi-location event will kick off with a Thanksgiving opening show in New York City.

We are now taking registrations for our Open House NYC. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour a pet-inclusive domestic violence shelter, hear about the policies and procedures, and listen to survivors share their stories, all with the goal of building a regional network of providers that can support each other through the various phases of co-sheltering people and animal together.

Join us on August 4, 2023 for the next Open House, co-hosted by Found House Interfaith Housing Network. (Found House IHN), from 1 PM to 4:30 PM.
Learn about how Found House IHN has grown from operating emergency shelter for families, creating a Pet Support Program to offer services to pet owners across the area, to building its first pet-inclusive supportive housing program.
Co-Sheltering Collaborative Q2 Meeting
Join us for the Co-Sheltering Collaborative’s Q2 Meeting. During this quarter’s meeting, learn from leading experts at The KONG Company about the importance of enrichment for dogs and how play can reduce boredom and problematic behaviors in a congregate human shelter environment. By the end of the meeting, emergency shelter staff will have practical tips, tricks, and recommendations for tools/toys to enhance the safety of co-sheltering environments through dog play.
Office Hours: Ask a Dog Trainer
Office Hours give you an opportunity to ask questions and troubleshoot issues with an expert on a specific topic. Any dog training or behavior question may be brought to this office hours session, and the intention is to help you workshop your concerns as they relate to policies, procedures, and practices at your own emergency shelter or housing sites.

Join us to see how LA County’s first formally sanctioned companion animal program within an interim housing facility has evolved over fifteen years of operation. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour a pet-inclusive shelter, learn about their policies and procedures, hear from a PATH resident, and meet like-minded advocates.

Dogs In The House
Having a pet can be a great comfort if you are on the street. In many cases, it’s also a barrier to getting off the street. Our furry friends can also be cited as reason for an eviction. Fortunately, there are a bunch of people and organizations working to address these concerns.

Co-Sheltering Collaborative Online Open House
For homeless shelters, animal welfare organizations and government officials looking to better accommodate people and pets together in circumstances of homelessness.
During the Open House, you will get context on what the Collaborative does, what active membership entails, and the benefits of membership. Open House participants are welcome to stay for the regular Collaborative meeting immediately following, allowing for participation in dialogue with collaborative members as they share ideas and expertise, exchange resources, and discuss the group’s progress.
Open House: 12 - 12:30pm PT / 3 - 3:30pm ET
Regular Meeting: 12:30 - 2pm PT / 3:30 - 5pm ET

Auction for Access
Currently there are no New York City homeless shelters offering accommodations for people experiencing homelessness with animals. In attempt to build the capacity of our local shelters, My Dog is My Home is hosting a spring fundraiser, Auction for Access, on Friday, April 27th, 2018 in Bushwick, NY. Our event will be a doggie-friendly auction filled with drinks, snacks and activities for both dogs and their humans.
